STYLIN ON YOU: Brittney from Northern Virginia

Our Stylin On You feature of the day is Brittney from the Northern Virginia area. She's a fierce 20 something Stylista and Fab-Mommy that hails from Virginia but finds herself mostly in the city of Washington, D.C. I've known Brittney for quite some time now and was so happy that she agreed to let me feature her today. I adore her sense of style! Check out snippets from our brief interview below:
__________________________________________________

When asked about her style she says, "Sequin, Metallic, Print… Oh My! My style is reflected off what body part I like to accentuate, arms, legs, collar bone even! I love to reveal while leaving some to the imagination. Accessories are a must; I live for big earring, gaudy necklaces, and sparkly rings. Due to my small statue, pumps are essential. A solid color pump never fails me; just call me head over HEELS. My first pick in clothing is a dress but, regardless of what I decide to wear the most important factor is to make sure it flatters my body shape."

Not only does Brittney like to accentuate her best assets and fall head over heels with her pumps, she is also inspired and influenced by many. When I asked her about her style influences she says, "A style influence is an understatement when it comes to Kourtney Kardashian [I totally agree Brittney!]. Ms. Kardashian can do no wrong in my eyes of fashion. Blazers, pleated skirts, chiffon blouses, strapless rompers, even oversized tops; she conquers all clothing with amazing class."

Brittney also gushed about her Style Icon, Ms. Tracey Ellis Ross and says she loves "how her ensembles are always fashion-forward, yet nostalgic. Less is more with Ms. Ross she’s always impeccable with her on trend choices, while paying homage with vintage pieces."

The words 'Style & Grace' means so much to me for numerous reasons and it always intrigues me to find out what it means to others, especially potential Stylin On You features. Brittney says, "Style and Grace comes in every COLOR, there’re no limitations in SIZE, and the PRICE is always affordable. Confidence is Key when it comes to Style and Grace. Clothing and accessories are solely materialist items, style is individuality; wear it well." Let us all say, AMEN!

Brittney's "STYLE, LIVE, DIE" Quote: “Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it” - Yves Saint Laurent. She also says, "Clothes should not make a person; make the clothing appear how you want others to view it. There’s more to fashion than what meets the eye" and I couldn't agree with her more!

STYLIN ON YOU: Kira from St. Louis, MO

Our Stylin On You Feature of the day is Kira from the Washington DC area who is in her words "currently revolutionizing" St Louis, MO. Kira has a bubbly personality accompanied with a fun and loving spirit that is evident in her unique sense of style. Not only is Kira revolutionizing in St. Louis, MO with her countless community involvements but she finds a way to look effortless chic! I adore the way she has incorporated mixed prints in her style as she has paired the pink & black striped blazer with the leopard heels (seen above).

When asked about her style she says, "A bit of a creative mixed bag, really. I have never been one to run out and grab the latest shoe, sweater or trending lip stick. My life is so dynamic that my shopping ritual is a medley of consignment, "thrifting", department store and boutique treasure hunts paired with the "make-it-happen-and-go!" attitude."

Kira's style is influence begins with products such as lipstick, eyeliner and bobby-pins! She described her inspiration came from "Ms Style and Grace, herself [Aww thanks Kira!] and my community, both geographically and culturally. I’ve lived in three different states but have traveled to 14 other countries. When it comes to absorbing creative expressions of the people and places around me, I am pretty impressionable." Are you loving Kira's style so far, I know I'am!

Style & Grace means so much to me for several reasons and it always intrigues me to find out what it means to others especially potential Stylin On You features. Kira says, "It’s really all about ownership. Self confidence, Sensuality, Pride and the multitude of attributes that are an extension of accepting, loving and owning who you are. You are the only thing that could prevent you from being GREAT. Own your gifts, your talents and your bright spirit and your style and grace will most graciously be your reflection." I couldn't have said it better.

Kira's STYLE, LIVE, DIE favorite quote for 2012: “Keep your Heels, Head and Standards HIGH”

Stylin On You: Jessica Jackson

Stylin On You introduces you to Jessica Jackson from Northern Virgina. At the age of 25 years old Jessica is the epitome of Style and Grace. I met Jessica back in college during my NC A&T Elon Days (circa 2002-2003) and her style since then has always been refreshing.
Her lovable personality, bubbly hora and confidence makes her style even more noticeable!

When asked about her style, she says....

"My style is an expression of my mood. I dress to reflect my outlook on the day. If I'm all about business for that day that I dress to reflect that. If I'm feeling sexy that day, then I dress to reflect that too."

If you ask her about style influences or icons, she says....

"My style influence is not a person but a word; lady. I am inspired by classic pieces that have the aura of a lady. any girl can become a woman, it takes someone special to be a lady, I am, therefore I dress."

**Very interesting! It's admirable to see that inspiration can come by many influences other than the norm.

Oww! All Black Everything..Sexy, chic & radaint! Love this look :)

And if your wondering what does Style & Grace mean to Jessica?

"In my humble opinion, style and grace are not merely descriptions but personality characteristics. Style and grace do not need to be announced or verbalized, it is something that you exude, it just is who you are."

Cheers to our Stylin On You STAR of the Week, Jessica!

Her style is very chic but also mixed with a heavy dose of sophistication and class. I recently got had the opportunity to ask this fabulous friend of mine all about her Style & Much Grace...

When it comes to Wenisha's Style she says, "My style is filled with Miami's vibrant colors and DC's swag of Grace. I love turquoise blue accessories and clothing and chic prints and patterns. I love summer styles....and i LUV cute bathing suits and sandals. They are a must in every girl's closet. My style is on a transition from Miami grad student to post grad working girl in DC. I love simple sleek dresses, colorful blouses, jean shorts, and gold jewelry."

This picture above was from Wenisha's 22nd Birthday and she is definitely wearing that dress! I love how this color pairs up perfectly with her skin tone and the minimal accessories is genius! Note to Ladies: Never over-do accessories, always know "minimal is KEY"...

If you ask Wenisha about her Style Influences so says without a doubt that, "Michelle Obama and Beyonce inspire my everyday look. I love Michelle Obama's style of elegant dresses, flawless makeup, and short bob hair cuts. She is truly a fashion icon and represents the beauty of African-American woman. Sirdonea (better known as Sodie) described her individual style as "A variety…whatever I’m feeling. I like to play around with a lot of different looks. Since MsStyleandGrace.com is near and dear to my fashionable heart, I asked the beautiful Sodie what Style & Grace meant to her and she said this:
"Style and Grace to me is the essence of a woman. It’s what defines her, inside and out. Her beauty, her walk, her talk, her fashion… it’s what makes her her. I believe every woman has their own unique Style and Grace that she evolves into once she defines her inner being. Style and Grace is something that will never die, only evolve as she grows older, wiser and stronger."
