Jada Pinkett Smith Tells It All for REDBOOK Magazine

My all-time favorite Actress/Fab-Mommy, Jada Pinkett-Smith covers REDBOOK Magazine and tells it ALL....I mean everything. How amazing does the 39 year-old actress look?! I'm amazed at her beauty and most of all her accomplishments as a black woman in Hollywood, she is truly an inspiration. Check out a few highlights from her interview below:

REDBOOK: How did you get to this point, where you decided that family was the number-one priority?
"I had to make choices. Believe me, I would still be on the road with my band, Wicked Wisdom, and making as many movies as I can a year, and doing all sorts of other things if I didn't have the responsibility of a family. But I have children with their own talents and dreams, and I know I have to be standing next to them for that journey."

REDBOOK: Jaden's 12, Willow's 10. Have your kids had to sacrifice some of their innocence as their careers have started to blow up?
"The innocence is still there. We deal with self-love and body issues with Willow, for example. I still deal with confidence issues with Jaden in terms of his moving to the next level in acting, music, or martial arts. And there's nothing Willow loves more than shopping at Staples, Target, and Barnes & Noble. Yesterday she asked me to take her to Staples so she could buy some notebooks and colored pens, because she loves to journal."

REDBOOK: When you start to doubt yourself, how do you jump-start your self-confidence?
"What is the first thing you say to yourself when you wake up in the morning and look in the mirror? Is it, "Oh, man, I look tired?" Or is it, "You know what? Maybe I'm getting these wrinkles all over my face, but I'll be god-damned if I'm not a bad chick!" Women need to attack those negative voices they have in their head."

REDBOOK: What's something every woman should do for herself?
"I wish I knew. I can tell you what this woman needs to do. Even if it's just 30 minutes a day, or on the weekend, I tell my kids, "I will be nowhere to be found because I need some Mommy time." Do whatever rejuvenates you. It might be a cooking class, cocktails with the girls, or just private time with the hubby. We all have our moments where we run out of steam because we've given everything we've got to everyone else. Whoever decided that was a good thing? It's not. Everyone needs to refuel."

ROCK IT OR KNOCK IT: Jeffrey Campbell "Malice" Shoe

Any Jeffrey Campbell lovers out there?! I'm a huge fan of Jeffrey Campbell for some years now and I must say that I'm loving what I see so far this season. I ran across these Jeffrey Campbell 'Malice' Shoes and I completely fell head over heels for them until I saw what they read across the gold detailing. I'm kind of conservative when it comes to saying and wearing vulgar language, that's just me but how insanely sexy are these shoes? Would you rock it or knock it?! I'm super curious!

"How to Stay Young" According to Girlfriends in God

Everyday I get emails from 'Girlfriends in God' and let me the first person to tell you that after I read their emails my heart feels complete, today especially. As women we go through so much emotionally so it's always good to find ways to get centered especially before the day gets chaotic. What is Girlfriends in God? Well it's a group of women who share daily devotions composed of a bible verse, story of application and a prayer.

I usually share what I read with my own girlfriends but, it seems like a majority of my girlfriends get the emails now, so from time to time we discuss it. Want to know how this relates to a Fashion Blog? Well, I know in this beauty & fashion industry we are always so caught up on "staying in the know/hip" and dare let anyone tell us we are getting old, we will have a major attitude...so the key is "Staying Young" of course! So, today I'm sharing the "How to Stay Young" email I recieved this morning from my 'Girlfriends in God' hoping that this resignates with some of my readers.

How to Stay Young

1. Throw out non-essential numbers such as your age, weight and height.
2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down. If you really need a grouch, there are probably family members to fill that need.
3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Just never let the brain idle.
4. Enjoy the simple things. When the children are young - that is all you can afford. When they are in college that is all you can afford. When they are grown, and you are on retirement, that is all you can afford.
5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath. Laugh so much that you can be tracked in the store by your distinctive laughter.
6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person that is with us our entire life is ourselves.
7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it is family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies or whatever. Your home is your refuge.
8. Cherish your health. If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
9. Don't take guilt trips. Go to the mall, the next county, a foreign country - but not guilt.
10. Tell the people you love how much you love them every chance you get. Never assume they know.
11. Don't worry about things you cannot change or do anything about. Accept them and move on.
12. Read more and dust less.
13. Spend more time with your family and friends and less time working.
14. Whenever possible, life should be a pattern of experiences to savor, not to endure. Recognize these moments now and cherish them.
15. Do not "save" anything. Use your good china and crystal for every special event such as losing a pound, getting the sink unstopped, or the next blossom of flowers you see.
16. Wear your best outfit to the market.
17. Don't save your good perfume for only special occasions. Use it even if you are going shopping or just to the bank.
18. "Someday" and "one of these days" should vanish from your vocabulary. If something is worth seeing, hearing or doing, go and see, hear or do it now.

So if you love me baby this how let me know...don't ever let me go, that's how you let me know baby.
Forever younnnnnng.
