The Power of GRAPEFRUIT!

via: BellaSugar
  • Supports great skin: Your skin can benefit from the foods you eat. The vitamin C found in Florida grapefruit and 100-percent grapefruit juice may help support collagen production to help keep skin looking youthful and radiant.
  • Beautify your smile. Healthy gums and a stunning smile can go hand in hand. Florida grapefruit's vitamin C can support the production of collagen in your gums, providing a healthy foundation for that beautiful smile we all desire — so drink up!
  • Pampers feet and hands: Trade your expensive, store-bought scrub for a great-smelling, homemade version. Combine one-half cup kosher salt, 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger, 1 tablespoon yellow or pink grapefruit zest and 1 cup almond or sesame oil in a bowl. Scrub away (with the exception of your face and freshly shaved legs), and store covered in your fridge for up to three weeks!
  • Relaxes the day away: Regardless of our hectic schedules, we all need a little down time. Try grapefruit-infused essential oils to create a relaxed, spa-like environment at home.
Sounds like a dream to me! For more information on Florida grapefruit, check out www.facebook.com/juicyscoop

Designer Spotlight: Dominique Renee

Recently while browsing my favorite gossip blogs (Necole Bitchie!) I discovered a very talented young woman that was a Nail Artist. Her work was beyond talented and I had to get the inside scoop so I reached out to her and she told me more about her new collection as well as her inspiration. I would like to introduce you to Ms. Dominique Renee! She's the epitome of Style & Grace ; )

DOMINIQUE RENEE'S BIO:

"I am a 21 year old Nail Artist and Designer from Connecticut. I originally went to school for Graphic Design but soon realized that my heart wasn’t in it. I had always dreamed of being designer, but never thought I really had what it took. With nothing else to loose I decided to go for it. I was actually in the process of teaching my self how to sew when my nails started to turn heads everywhere I went. Designing nails is not exactly how I thought I would get started, I just kind of fell into it. I got tired of going to the nail salon and the nail techs not delivering. I started doing my own nails and became OBSESSED! I would change designs every two to three days.  My nails became my most important accessory when putting an outfit together. We ALL know how important accessories are. With that in mind I decided to develop my own line of nails so that people all over the world could enjoy my designs the same way I do."

HER INSPIRATION:

"Inspiration comes from everywhere, and everything! I am obsessed with fashion and art from the 80s and 90s (which I’m sure it evident in my work) so I watch a lot of old shows, music videos, movies etc. and I LOVE patterns. Sometimes for me inspiration isn’t always visual. I am inspired by words, emotions, and thoughts. I then visually communicate them through my designs. This collection was inspired by vintage clothing and patterns."

HOW CAN WE REACH HER:

Carol's Daughter Multiracial Ad Campaign

In developing its new promotional approach, Carol's Daughter took a look at the latest US Census data, which reveal that more people are checking the "other" box (or multiple boxes) when it comes to race. To reflect the diversity of the population, the beauty brand has launched a polyethnic campaign. "When I say polyethnic, I mean women who are made up of several ethnicities," the brand's Steve Stoute told WWD. "If you ask them what they are, they're going to use a lot of different words to describe themselves."

The new campaign will feature Selita Ebanks, who is of African, Indian, Irish, and Jamaican heritage; Solange Knowles, who is of African-American and French Creole descent; and Cassie, who is of Filipina and black ancestry. "Today, people are blended, and I think the three of us are a prime example," Selita explained. "Women in my family range from vanilla to the deepest chocolate."

Expect to see the models' ads out in June, along with a complete repackaging of the line rolling out by next year. Also, Mary J. Blige, who enjoyed much success with her Carol's Daughter-aligned My Life fragrance, is set to follow up with a flanker scent, My Life Blossom, slated for an August release.

OPI Meets Pirates of the Caribbean

via: Nitrolicious

OPI captures the bright colors and breathtaking escapades seen in Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides with six limited-edition Nail Lacquers and a new Silver Shatter! Disney’s highly-anticipated fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise is directed by Rob Marshall and features an all-star cast, including Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz.

To celebrate the new film, OPI launches its Spring 2011 BRIGHTS Collection, which features a groundbreaking new color addition in the Shatter coat formula– Silver. Inspired by graffiti art, this shade leaves behind a crackled, two-texture silver finish when painted over any dry OPI hue.

“OPI is thrilled to celebrate the latest film in this beloved series,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides lacquers were inspired by a world filled with mythical mermaids, gleaming treasure, and high-seas adventure. With shades ranging from sage and lavender to khaki gray and pastel pink, these colors are evocative of a warm, tropical setting, with a classic nautical influence.”

The collection includes: Skull & Glossbones (Best light gray ever, no bones about it), Mermaid’s Tears (Few have seen this magical green), Steady as She Rose (This gorgeous pink is your final destination), Planks a Lot (Dive into style with this lust-worthy purple), Sparrow Me the Drama (This cool, collected pink means business), Stranger Tides (Explore this uncharted sea of sage) and Silver Shatter (A shimmering sea of silver with a two-texture finish). This limited-edition collection will be available beginning May 2011 for $8.50 ($10.95 CAN).

ELLE & The Coveteur: Takes A Look Into Khloe's Closet

Khloe Kardashian Odom is reality star, entrepreneur, fashion plate, and famous family member. Take a look into her fashionable closet filled with lots of SHOEGASMS!
Enjoy her commentary below~

 Step-and-Repeat

“I love all of my shoes! It is a must to have them color coordinated, and to be able to see each and every one of them. I know exactly where each one lives and I can tell if one has even been moved! It definitely helps to put one shoe facing front, and the other to the back. It saves space, but it is also nice to be able to see the back-side of the shoe. I am an organization freak!”

Sneak Attack
“My hubby [Lamar Odom] is such a sneaker king….and I am a stiletto queen!  He always wants to see me in sneakers, but I believe I can do anything in heels. When Louboutin came out with these bling-bling sneakers (center) I had to grab them—they are so fab! When he said he wanted me to wear sneakers, I don’t think this is what he meant. They are over the top but super comfy and blingy!”

Heart and Sole
“These boots are so special to me. They are probably ten years old. My dad bought them for me when I was in high school. He picked them out himself and surprised me for no reason at all. He said, ‘These boots just screamed your name, so I had to get them for you!’ I believe they were the first expensive piece of wardrobe I owned. I love the memories these boots give me! And my vintage Chanel bag…need I say more? Love Chanel…. it makes any outfit that much more fabulous.”

Sparks Fly
“What can I say, I love bling! I’m drawn to anything that sparkles. These shoes are my Sex and the City shoes—I actually wore them when the Lakers won the Championship last year. And my phone…my office is not complete without this beautiful thing! My bling phone makes business calls nearly stress free.”
Christian Louboutin shoes

Printed Matter
“When I saw this Balenciaga bag, I had to have it. The style is classic Balenciaga, but the print makes it so special. These AlaĆÆa boots are fresh and they boast my signature leopard vibe.”

Power Players
Top: “As you might have noticed that I have a reoccurring theme in my closet: sparkles, glitz, and bling… essentially anything that glitters!”
Fendi bag
Bottom: “When I saw these, they were a must! I felt like they were calling my name. I love adding a little rock-and-roll to my wardrobe. I can wear jeans, a tank top and these shoes and look instantly put-together. It really is all about the shoes.”
Christian Louboutin shoes

On the Fringe
“These shoes are beyond words. Mr. Louboutin just does it right—he knows how to make women’s shoes the entire outfit. I literally create most of my outfits around my shoe collection.”
Christian Louboutin shoes

White Hot
Herve Leger dress, Prada pumps

Bevy of Beauties
Top: “I love how high these Fendi shoes are. I’m tall, but I embrace my height and I love to add to it. Alexander McQueen was a phenomenal designer— I wore this dress to the People’s Choice Awards. This dress brings back memories because I had red hair then… man, I miss my red hair. Don’t get me started about this white tassle Louboutin purse. I have no idea when I will wear it, but I just had to snatch it up because it’s so unique.”
Bottom: “I love this image— all of my beauties lined down the stairs.”

Color Theory
“I would not have my closet any other way but color coordinated! It makes getting dressed in the morning much easier, and makes your closet appear much cleaner.”

Animal Instincts
“Leopard print has been my thing forever! When I was a teenager my entire room was done in leopard print—it’s timeless, chic, and always in style. When in doubt…leopard!”
Alexander Wang shoes and bag

Diamond Girl
Top: “My dining room is all about Marilyn Monroe. I searched high and low for a painting of her. Lamar and I are both fans, so a painting of her was something that would make my house complete. Diamond dust glazed over the top layer of paint was something I didn’t even know was possible. This painting adds so much glamour to my house; I will have it forever!”
Louis Vuitton bag, Christian Louboutin shoes
Bottom: "I love this Louis Vuitton bag—it’s very romantic-looking to me. They discontinued it, so I’m happy to have it!"

Classical Architecture
“A classic clutch is a must in every woman’s closet. You can wear a clutch with a pair of jeans to dress up your entire look. I have had this clutch for maybe 7 years and I still love it!”
Jimmy Choo clutch

Shoe Game
“I love how Nicholas Kirkwood has that graphic sole on his shoes— that is why these shoes are so dope on, it’s all about the unique sole. The print doesn’t hurt either.”
