STYLIN ON YOU: Brittney from Northern Virginia

Our Stylin On You feature of the day is Brittney from the Northern Virginia area. She's a fierce 20 something Stylista and Fab-Mommy that hails from Virginia but finds herself mostly in the city of Washington, D.C. I've known Brittney for quite some time now and was so happy that she agreed to let me feature her today. I adore her sense of style! Check out snippets from our brief interview below:

When asked about her style she says, "Sequin, Metallic, Print… Oh My! My style is reflected off what body part I like to accentuate, arms, legs, collar bone even! I love to reveal while leaving some to the imagination. Accessories are a must; I live for big earring, gaudy necklaces, and sparkly rings. Due to my small statue, pumps are essential. A solid color pump never fails me; just call me head over HEELS. My first pick in clothing is a dress but, regardless of what I decide to wear the most important factor is to make sure it flatters my body shape."

Not only does Brittney like to accentuate her best assets and fall head over heels with her pumps, she is also inspired and influenced by many. When I asked her about her style influences she says, "A style influence is an understatement when it comes to Kourtney Kardashian [I totally agree Brittney!]. Ms. Kardashian can do no wrong in my eyes of fashion. Blazers, pleated skirts, chiffon blouses, strapless rompers, even oversized tops; she conquers all clothing with amazing class."

Brittney also gushed about her Style Icon, Ms. Tracey Ellis Ross and says she loves "how her ensembles are always fashion-forward, yet nostalgic. Less is more with Ms. Ross she’s always impeccable with her on trend choices, while paying homage with vintage pieces."
The words 'Style & Grace' means so much to me for numerous reasons and it always intrigues me to find out what it means to others, especially potential Stylin On You features. Brittney says, "Style and Grace comes in every COLOR, there’re no limitations in SIZE, and the PRICE is always affordable. Confidence is Key when it comes to Style and Grace. Clothing and accessories are solely materialist items, style is individuality; wear it well." Let us all say, AMEN!
Brittney's "STYLE, LIVE, DIE" Quote: “Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it” - Yves Saint Laurent. She also says, "Clothes should not make a person; make the clothing appear how you want others to view it. There’s more to fashion than what meets the eye" and I couldn't agree with her more!

RECAP: Dresses For Dreams Hosted by WPGC 95.5 Sunni

Yesterday, March 27th 2012 I attended the "Dresses For Dreams" event hosted by the uber-fabulous radio host of WPGC 95.5 Sunni to benefit Families Matters of Greater Washington at Indulj lounge located in Washington, D.C. As soon as I heard of this event, I immediately spread the word to a few of my girlfriends in hopes of them donating their super beautiful "will never wear again/too many facebook photos of me in that..." dresses to younger girls that come from low-income families, so they too can look beautiful for their prom. I was so happy to see such a great turn out and getting the chance to donate to such a great cause, needless to say, I'm excited to attend more events like this in the future! In addition to donating to a great cause, we sipped on complimentary Remy Martin cocktails and networked the room full of talented women in the DMV area. I must say that it was a good Tuesday evening, check out a few pictures of the event below:

SPRING TREND: We Are Lovin Mint!

For some reason, the song "Crew Love" by Drake popped into my head when I thought of writing this post! I must say, that people are really lovin the mint trend this season, so in my best Drake voice "They lovinnnnn crew" ...ok, I'm done! LOL! Anyway, this is a very popular Spring trend that I’m really excited about, especially since everyone is embracing it in their own unique way. Lately, it's been quite the trend to see our favorite celebs and even FLOTUS First Lady Of The United States  rocking everything from blazers, denim, dresses, shoes, handbags and even mint hair (Teyanna Taylor seen above) so have you picked up on the crew's favorite must-have this season? BEAUTY: Airbrush Makeup by Dinair

Ladies are you tired of applying your makeup with brushes and sponges? I think I've found the solution to your problems with the widely-known but exclusive Airbrush makeup that just isn’t for salons and professional makeup artists to glam the celebrities of the world, but for everyday dolls like ourselves! By definition Airbrush makeup is "Unlike traditional makeup (where you rub makeup into your skin), airbrushing sprays a fine mist, so the makeup "sits evenly" on your skin. Airbrush makeup provides flawless coverage (sheer or opaque), by minimizing skin imperfections while giving skin a beautifully natural looking finished result" according to the originator of airbrush makeup Dinair.

The 30 year old Dinair has been the "go-to" for all professional makeup artists as they praised for their innovative airbrush makeup, systems and accessories. And to put the cherry on the cake, Dinair's makeup lasts on the face all day, leaving your skin with a flawless, natural finish. Dinair even has makeup tutorials (seen above) that show you how easy it is to apply.

Airbrush makeup has healthy benefits for your skin as well. Dinair pride's themselves on it’s silicone and paraben-free, non-comedogenic, water-based, hypoallergenic, and dries on contact so it won't sink into your pores. See the Dinair kit (seen above) as it comes complete with all your needs and leaves room for you to get creative with your makeup in a rather short time. And if you send them a photo they will do a free color match to ensure that you get the correct shade! I'm truly amazed at this company and would love to try airbrush makeup, especially in the blistering heat known as Summer where I choose to wear less makeup. Thoughts?

SNEAK PEEK: The CW Network Begins Filming "The Carrie Diaries"

Any Sex And The City fans out there?! I'm a die hard Carrie fan like many others and can truly relate to her dating life and of course her fashion, so I was pleasantly delighted to see a glimpse of what the CW Network had up their sleeves when they announced they would take us back into the life of Ms. Carrie Bradshaw Preston. Check out the sneak peeks into "The Carrie Diaries" filmed on Sunday afternoon, March 25th as AnnaSophia Robb and Freema Agyeman looked fabulous in their 1980s apparel.

Anna Sophia Robb sports the trademarked "curly hair" with 1980s frilly blouse, a short skirt and 3inch black stiletto heels in effort to portray our favorite the Carrie Bradshaw.

While by Freema Agyeman, sported a 1980s french roll/up-do hair and a canary yellow jacket and stark blue trousers, paired with leopard heels. Freema will star as 'Larissa' the editor/party girl who works at Interview magazine and is Carrie's super fabulous mentor.

The two actresses were spotted on set outside of Carrie's favorite retail store, Century 21 where they both shared hugs and smiles in the infamous New York City.

I'm soooooooo excited to see "The Carrie Diaries" like I seriously cannot wait! It's the return of an era.

MOTIVATION MONDAY: June Ambrose on Black Enterprise

Favorite Quotes from June's interview:

"It's really important to take care of yourself first, in order to take care of others. It's the single most important thing in life"

"I'm always under construction"

"Use fashion as your weapon, be fearless in your approach and dream with your eyes open"
[My favorite quote]

"A good leader doesn't judge but gives valid opinions that are worthy of obtaining"

I hope this video inspired you all, it most certainly motivated me to keep my eyes OPEN and continue to brand myself. June also reminded me that I really have to work on taking time to mediate before I begin my day, it was one of my New Years Eve Resolutions and of course I'm queen of putting things off, so I'm looking forward to making that part of my daily mantra. Have a super awesome week people, do something FABULOUS....#YOLO
