Black History in Fashion: Pat Cleveland

In 1967, the future Catwalk Queen was stopped by a Vogue editor while en route to Manhattan's LaGuardia Performing Arts School--and three years later, she was living in Paris and setting the fashion world ablaze. The black/Cherokee/Irish stunner danced all night at La Palace, inspired the likes of Halston, Steven Burrows and Yves Saint Laurent, and set the standard for runway walking with her ethereal dance-prance. Legendary strut aside, Cleveland signature feature was her glorious, free-flowing halo of hair (she's referred to her mane as her "flying carpet"). via: Essence.com

"I always say if you have a dream and you love it, make it come true, in fashion it's how you dress, diamond collars, bracelets or stilettos. Whatever appeals to your fashion sense. If you can get it, it can be like one of the five senses, it is for me...live it, use it, enjoy it, let it be you."

She's by far one of the most inspirational models of her time, Pat is a great role model for aspiring models!

Check out her interview and get a sneak peek of what it like to be BLACK in the Fashion industry...
