FASHION NEWS: Washington, DC Is #1 Most Shopaholic City!

via: Bundle

I recently read an article about the top cities where shopaholics live and if you think you KNOW you have no idea! The spending data, which comes from the US. government, from anonymous and aggregated spending transactions from Citi, and third party data providers, was tracked for a full year from March 2010 to March 2011. Cities were then ranked by highest average monthly spending. The national average for monthly clothes spending is $142.08.

Here's are the top 10 most shopaholic cities in America by average monthly spending:

1. Washington D.C.
• Residents average monthly spending in clothes, shoes and other wear: $263

2. Arlington, Va.
• Residents average monthly spending in clothes, shoes and other wear: $254.58

3. Nashville, Tenn.
• Residents average monthly spending in clothes, shoes and other wear: $251.17

4. Scottsdale, Ariz.
• Residents average monthly spending in clothes, shoes and other wear: $243.17

5. Dallas, Texas
• Residents average monthly spending in clothes, shoes and other wear: $228.58

6. San Francisco, Calif.
• Residents average monthly spending in clothes, shoes and other wear: $227.42

7. San Jose, Calif.
• Residents average monthly spending in clothes, shoes and other wear: $221.17

8. Seattle, Wash.
• Residents average monthly spending in clothes, shoes and other wear: $221.17

9. Austin, Texas
• Residents average monthly spending in clothes, shoes and other wear: $213

10. Bakersfield, Calif.
• Residents average monthly spending in clothes, shoes and other wear: $201.50

Who could have guessed that my city DC, would be the top shopaholic city in the U.S.? California is well-represented, but LA surprisingly didn’t make the list (Biggest Shocker!). Dallas is sort of an obvious one, but where are the other world-class shopping cities, like Chicago and New York?  Hmmm....
