The CFDA set guidelines in January requiring that models under 16 should not be hired for fashion shows, while girls under 18 should not be allowed to work past midnight for fittings or shoots.
If you haven't heard already, Diane von Furstenberg who is the President of the CFDA—accidentally let the then 15-year-old Hailey Clauson walk in her Fall 2011 show. She later apologized publicly for this incident and assured this wouldn't happen again.
Steven Kolb, the council’s CEO, is cracking down on the policy by asking models to show their IDs on the day of the show. Joining the cause are top modeling agencies, who have pledged to not send girls under 16 for shows.
