When TV Makes A Fashionable Comeback: Saks Fashion Promo for ABC's 'Scandal'

 

 

 

We're less than a week away from the Season 3 Premiere of SCANDAL and I'm so excited!! In addition, to clutching your pearls and intense love making scenes plus loads of action-packed drama you will also see "The Olivia Pope" (Kerry Washington) wearing some designer studs as Saks Fifth Avenue has teamed up with the hit series to do some fashion promo. The day before the Season 3 hits the TV screens, Scandal's star Kerry Washington, costume designer Lyn Paolo, and series creator Shonda Rhimes will host a premiere party at the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York City. The nationwide campaign will launch at the Saks flagship in NYC, in addition to a very Scandal-influenced window display with clothes from Giorgio Armani, Donna Karan, Michael Kors, and many more labels said to be worn by "The Olivia Pope" this season. I'm really excited to get into this political drama as well as Olivia's stylish looks this season, should be a great season ahead! PICASSO BABY: Jay-Z + Barney's NY for Holiday Collection

 

 

Jay-Z also known as Shawn Carter is showing no signs of slowing down as recently partnered with Barney's New York for his own "A New York Holiday". The collection is said to include a range of top fashion designers and "influential indie brands to fashion a collection of limited-edition holiday products", says WWD. Interested in the brands that will be featured in this collection? Well Barney's NY has tapped Lanvin, Balenciaga, Balmain, Proenza Schouler, Rick Owens and Moncler. The New York store will be called BNY SCC Gallery (Barneys New York and Shawn Corey Carter).

Items from the collection will go on sale Nov. 20, 2013- Jan. 3, 2014 at the Barneys flagships in New York, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Boston and Chicago. If you don't live in those cities, no worries barneys.com has you covered. The best part about this collection is that 25% percent of all sales from the project will go toward the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. Sarah Jessica Parker was a vision in this custom made gown by Prabal Gurung. I'm really loving the pockets especially, seems like that could be a possible trend to be on the look out for.

 

 

FASHIONABLE MOVIES: Trailer for Lifetime’s "House of Versace"

Set your DVRs fashion lovers for the "House of Versace" movie set to premiere on October 5th at 8/7c on the Lifetime Network. Check out the latest trailer released below!  

FYI-This movie is based on Deborah Ball’s book House of Versace: The Untold Story of Genius, Murder, and Survival. Since I haven't read the book (DISCLAIMER: Please don't judge me--post grad school's completion last month, I've taking a hiatus from reading BUT I have a list of books I plan to read beginning next month) anyway, I'm really excited to watch this movie! Lifetime always gives a pretty accurate portrayal of real-life events, so I know I won't be disappointed. Doesn't Gina Gershon make a stunning Donatella Versace?! The resemblance is striking.   

WHAT I WORE: Casual Sundays

Sundays is my favorite day of the week, why?! Because I get the chance to regroup, relax, kickback and recap my entire weekend and plan for upcoming week. I can take time to just be and not worry about what event I have to attend. I usually go to church then do brunch with family/friends and watch television. It's something about Sundays that makes me feel good, and this Sunday was no exception. After a very busy weekend of running around from event to event, party to gathering and celebrating I got the chance to enjoy a champagne brunch at Ardeo Bardeo Restaurant with my bestfriend. They have an amazing brunch special which includes bottomless mimosas and the choice of an appetizer and main course for only $27, isn't that a total steal?! Anyway I had a watermelon & cucumber gazpacho for my appetizer and chicken & waffles with a unique spin on it. Everything was delicious, especially the "waffles" also known as donuts and the sausage gravy. Total swoon mode!  

September 22nd officially stamped Fall's arrival but I'm still trying to wear my strappy sandals for as long as I can plus I love my toe nail polish, lol. Anyway, I'm a lover of comfort these days so I slipped into something very casual for a very chill Sunday in the city. Get deets on my look below.

Super excited about my new bag from the Phillip Lim for Target collection, I got the chance to get a few pieces last week and few things this week. Solange recently released stills from her latest video "Lovers In The Parking Lot" and of course she looks amazing. She rocked her signature fro and prints while dancing through a empty mall. WOMAN CRUSH WEDNESDAY: Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri

The beautiful Miss New York also known as Nina Davuluri became the first Indian woman to be crowned Miss America. Nina is currently applying to medical school, and with the help of a $50,000 scholarship she won as part of the pageant title she will be pursuing her dreams. Miss America 2014 is my Woman Crush Wednesday (WCW) of the day because of her beauty and brains that all little girls of any race or color can relate to. She is truly an inspiration to all, Congrats Miss America!

Over the weekend I got the chance to celebrate my cousin's birthday in Georgetown at Sequoia. It's been years since I've sat down and dined at Georgetown's harbor, so I was super excited to do it with my family. I fall in love with DC more and more each weekend...
